Celebrating Halloween on a Budget

Oct 24, 2014 | Halloween, Holiday, On a budget, Save Money

It’s that time of year again—Halloween! The children will be pounding on your door soon asking for treats. Maybe you are the hostess with the mostest who always organizes the best holiday shindigs. Or perhaps you’re planning on attending the best Halloween party on the planet and need something cool and creative to wear. The only exception is this time, you’re on a budget.

Being on a budget doesn’t mean you have to miss out on the holiday festivities. You can celebrate and be the frugal queen–or king! Here are a few tips to make this event, and all holidays, festive.

Have a Halloween Potluck

Nothing spoils a fun time like having to BE the fun. When you’re responsible for the soirée, it can take away from the fun because you go into adult mode. You’re an adult for the other 364 days of the year, it’s time to delve into your inner child and let loose.

So, throw a party and invite your closest friends over. Have them bring a Halloween dish, that way everyone is pitching in.

Get Crafty

The best way to save your money is DIY. For you HGTV challenged people out there, it stands for Do-It-Yourself! You’re welcome. You can even make your own costumes “on the cheap.”

Make your own decorations and utilize what you already have at home. Here are some ideas. You can also try Michael’s or Dollar Tree for inexpensive arts & crafts.

Prep for Next Year

Don’t forget about next year! Always determine a budget of how much you want to spend, save until you have enough money for your purchase, and stock up in the off season.

Now get up and go celebrate!
